Betty M. Kawar
July 7, 1931 – April 22, 2016
God chose Earth Day to bring his beautiful, lovely gardener home. Betty was a quirky, joyful, loving soul. Betty, the oldest of Melvin & Grace Goff was born in Cincinnati, OH. Growing up in Scarsdale, NY she learned to love gardening from her family’s Iowa roots. Betty attended the College of Wooster in Ohio, graduating in chemistry. Her first job led her to South Dakota State Univ. where she met her fun and loving husband, Faisal. He was her excitement and she loved the adventures they took together. They moved seven times in twelve years until they decided that Utah was the best place for them. They settled in Bountiful for 30 years and then in Logan for 17 years.
Betty was retired from the DMV and then enjoyed her life and her family. She is survived by her two daughters, Camellia (Tad) Stearns and Lillian Kawar, her grandchildren Amber and Mason Stearns and her brother Robert (Marguerite) Goff. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sister Barbara (Glen) Chenhall. She was loved by her family. Her grandchildren remember discussions and her love of books, Beanie Babies, arm wrestling, and tea parties while watching Looney Tunes cartoons. The fun and laughter will carry on for generations because of Betty’s joyful life that touched us all. Her many unique insights will be missed by those she knew.
A viewing will be held Wed. April 27, 2016 from 10:30-11:30AM at the Nelson Funeral Home (162 E. 400 N. Logan UT). Graveside services will be held at 12:00PM at the Logan Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Logan 15th Ward, Rocky Mountain Hospice and the wonderful family and friends who have supported Betty and her family through her illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family would love a pinwheel for Betty as she loved pinwheels! Betty felt that flowers should be planted and she would love you to plant one in her honor at your home (especially yellow tulips). She encourages you all to keep learning, reading, and to take a picture capturing the moments as time flies by so quickly. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
