Diane Elwood Low

Diane Elwood Low, 86, of Smithfield, passed away June 5, 2018.

Diane was born July 3,1931, in Logan, daughter of Joseph Verner and Edna Seamons Elwood. She grew up in Hyde Park with one older sister, Fern.

She attended schools in Cache County and graduated from North Cache High School.

Diane met Ned Taylor Low at a school dance and they married on May 4, 1950, in the Logan LDS Temple. After a year of marriage, they bought their home in Smithfield and lived their entire lives there. Mom had many interests. They included knitting, cross-stitch, traveling in the trailer, monthly trips to Wendover (to pay Nevada taxes), and watching TV, where she was the number one fan of the “The Price is Right”, “Judge Judy” and the Utah Jazz.

Mom was an accomplished candy dipper at the Bluebird but was most proud of being a wife, mother and homemaker. Mom was an excellent cook and enjoyed having family come home and preparing family favorite meals.

She was a member of the LDS church and held many callings, but her favorite was being a Young Women’s leader.

Mom and Dad raised five children and taught them many lessons such as love and respect for others, service, and hard work. She always enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to support them in their activities. Their visits always included a ‘sodie’ water or Capri Sun, and a candy bar.

She is survived by her husband, Ned, children: Karen Low, Logan, Janet (David) Traveller, Farmington, Robert (Brenda), Smithfield, Lisa Bray, Smithfield, Mark (Colleen), Smithfield; 12 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren with 2 more due in July; sister Fern Jeppesen, and a sister-in-law, Myrna Low. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ned’s parents, four brother-in-laws, and two sister-in-laws.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Smithfield, 85 South Main and Wednesday, June 13, 2018, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Smithfield Stake Center, 600 East 120 South. The funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Burial will be at the Smithfield City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
