Maxine Ellen Barnes Beckmann

Logan ? Maxine Ellen Barnes Beckmann, known to many as Mickey, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2002 at her daughter?s home. She was born on November 15, 1929 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Hyrum Keldeth Barnes and Rosalean Ellen Henderson. She graduated from Ogden High School and trained as a nurses aid. On November 24, 1952, Mickey married Allison Richard Beckmann, Jr. in Ogden, Utah. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1994. Mickey was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings. Her favorite assignment was with the Cub Scouts. She served on the Lake Bonneville Council where she earned the District Award of Merit. Every aspect of Cub Scouting was important to her, from training the boys to helping other adults become good leaders. Mickey loved to sing and was often found singing during her daily activities. She served as a chorister and participated in ward choirs. There was truly a song in her heart. Many happy times were spent camping with her family. She loved nature and exploring the beauty of this area. Children were very special to Mickey. She was an elementary school cook in Tremonton and loved greeting the children as they went through the school lunch line. Another love was being a member of the Midland Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Mickey had four children of her own: Cherie David Kidd, Logan; Jay Lynn Beckmann, Deceased; Allison Richard Beckmann, III Deceased; and William Lee Mandy Beckmann, Ogden. She is also survived by one brother and two sisters: Virgil Eldean Barnes, West Point; Doris Richard Klein, Burlington, Iowa; and Norma Seager, Ogden. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, her parents and a brother, Roy Cleo Barnes. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2002 in the Logan First Ward Chapel, 89 South 200 West, with Bishop Gene Needham, Jr., conducting. Friends may call on the family Thursday evening, July 25th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan and Friday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on the day of the funeral. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
