Alva Golden Boman

LEWSTON, UTAH - Alva Golden Boman passed away peacefully in Lewiston, Utah on May 16, 2910. He was born in Cornish, Utah at the home of his grandfather on February 23, 1919. He grew up the oldest of 9 children in Lewiston on the family farm. He graduated from 8th grade as the valedictorian and later graduated from North Cache High School in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 and received a purple heart for his service. He met his beloved Bea while recovering from injuries sustained in the war. They were married in the Logan Temple on June 13, 1946. After farming for 3 years, he was appointed as the Lewiston postmaster and served in that capacity for 34 years. Alva and Bea's home was always open to guests. Family, friends and neighbors all loved to visit and enjoyed the peace they felt there. He served 5 missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – one to the Southern States and 4 with his wife after they retired in 1983 England Leeds, Perth Australia, Fiji Suva, Denver Temple. He was a missionary at heart and loved sharing the gospel with others throughout his life. He spent his life serving in various capacities in his ward and community. He is preceded in death by his wife, Luella Bea Cottle Boman and 2 brothers, Ray and Vernal. He is survived by 5 children – Sonja McIntosh, Lee Judy Boman, Coralee Lynn Hill, Robert Chieko Boman, and Suzanne Lloyd Marchant – 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 19 great, great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank everyone for their love and care. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the "Family Place" in Lewiston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 22 at the Lewiston 1st Ward Chapel, 1600 West Center Street in Lewiston. A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday evening, May 21 at the ward building and from 12:30-1:30 prior to services on Saturday. Interment will be in the Lewiston City Cemetery.
