Athaleen Bennett Tufts

August 27, 1916 — May 11, 2010

Athaleen Bennett Tufts Another one of the ?Greatest Generation? has passed away. Athaleen was born in Mapleton, Idaho, in August 1916 and passed away May 11, 2010. She was one of ten children born to Henry and Esther Talbot Bennett. After consuming lots of sodas and meals at the lunch counter in Preston, Idaho, where Athaleen worked, Leland Tufts made her his bride in November 1937. Lee and Athaleen owned the Idaho Billiards and Sporting Goods and made Montpelier, Idaho their home for over 35 years before Lee passed away in March 1973. They had a wonderful group of friends in Montpelier and provided a charmed childhood for their children. Athaleen reluctantly sold her home in the beautiful Bear Lake Valley and moved to Logan, Utah, to be closer to family. She lived in her home in Logan until she was 90. Athaleen is survived by her three children - Wayne Carolyn Tufts, Trudy Dave Bradley, and Richard Michelle Tufts. She has 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren who cherish the memory of their Grandmother. Her sister Bessie Charles Carpenter and brother Eldon Ina Bennett remain to share their memories of Athaleen and growing up in their beloved Cub River. The stories are endless.......and fondly remembered by all the Nieces and Nephews. We appreciate the wonderful attention and care she received at the Williamsburg and Legacy House. Kathy, Buffie and Gay with Access Home Health and Hospice became like a part of our family through their loving care of Athaleen - our heartfelt thanks to them. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. Viewings will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday prior to services at the funeral home from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment will take place in the Franklin Idaho Cemetery.
