Audrie Graser Abel

June 28, 1924 — November 27, 2010

Garland – On Saturday, November 27, 2010, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Audrie G. Abel passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her daughter's home in Clinton. Audrie was born June 28, 1924 in Willard, UT to Theodore Lynn and LaVon Crowther Graser. She was raised on the family farm in Willard and developed a love of gardening which she continued to do throughout her life. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1942. She loved crocheting, quilting, ceramics and making delicious homemade chocolates for Christmas giving. She also loved watching the Jazz, especially the night before her passing, when the Jazz came back to defeat the Lakers.
With the war going on, she went to work at Hill Field packing ammunition at the arsenal to be sent overseas. During this time she met Douglas A. Eddy whom she married after his return from service in the Pacific Theater, on May 5, 1945 in Sparks, NV. Their marriage was solemnized on July 25, 1958 in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had four children. He passed away in 1962. She then married Ernest G. Abel on June 13, 1963 and moved back to Utah, settling in Garland, where she would spend the rest of her life. She also worked at Thiokol taking samples to be tested and at the Sugar Factory in Garland but, her most rewarding job was as a lunch cook at McKinley Elementary.
Audrie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in Primary, Sunday School, Young Women's and her final calling as the Ward Librarian. She also attended the Temple regularly with Ernest until their health didn't allow them to. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel which she passed down to her children.
She is survived by her Husband, Daughters: Joann Senninger, Clearfield, UT, Julie Booker Larry Clinton, UT; Stepchildren: Ed Abel Bonnie Orem, UT, Lawrence Abel Nan Clearfield, UT, Rayma Petracek Mike, Ogden, UT; 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; Sisters: Jean Waite and Marion Stokes both of Willard, UT. She was preceded in death by her first husband, parents, infant daughter Linda, son Michael and Sister Marjorie Burt. I've gone where pain and sorrow are no longer found, Where peace, love, and happiness abound. It may be beyond the farthest star, Or just a step from where we are. I will wait for that day, When we come together to work and play. Written by Ernest Abel Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garland 4th Ward LDS Chapel 175 South Main St., Garland, UT with Bishop Shannon King conducting. Friends may call Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, UT and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral services.
