Beth Oyler

November 8, 1915 — June 25, 2011

"Aunt Beth" Beth Oyler, 95, passed away peacefully June 25, 2011. She was born Nov. 8, 1915 in Garland, Utah, to Henry and Elisabeth Robertson Oyler, the third of six children and the last remaining of her siblings. When Beth was three years old, she lost the lower part of her left leg in a tragic farming accident, an event that would influence the rest of her life. She grew up in Tremonton, Utah, a bright and fiercely independent child, beloved by her brothers and sisters. Beth graduated from Bear River High School and from Utah State University as a teacher. Her early career experience included teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in Grouse Creek, Utah. She later graduated from the University of Denver's School of Librarianship, which set her on a career path that included the Salt Lake City Library and the University of Utah Marriott Library where she retired in 1980 as Assistant Director for General Services. Beth was a lifelong, faithful member of the LDS Church with a strong testimony of the Savior and temple work. She loved reading and learning, devouring National Geographic, Smithsonian, and Natural History Magazines and breezing through the Deseret News crossword puzzle daily. But her guilty pleasure was paperback historical novels. Beth never married, but was "Aunt Beth" to numerous nieces and nephews who will all dearly miss her generosity and charming wit. The last two years she has lived with her niece Cindy Moyle, and in the early morning hours of June 25th, her brothers and sisters came to take her home. She said on that day she would be dancing a jig! We love you Aunt Beth! Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 12:00 noon at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
