Betty Marie Booth Bean

Betty Marie Booth Bean passed away peacefully at her home in River Heights, Utah, on February 23, 2009. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on March 10, 1924, to Ralph Edwin Booth and Bessie Leone Goldsbrough Booth. Betty grew up mostly in Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School in 1941 and the University of Utah in 1945, where she was an honors student and served as student body vice president. She married J. Richard Bean on June 20, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they have six children, Mark Bean, Barbara Wallace, Douglas Bean deceased, Marianne Barker, Susan Bird, and Laurie Hart. Betty was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked in both ward and stake capacities. She served a mission with Richard in the Roseville, California mission. She loved music and enjoyed singing and leading choral music. As a teenager, she learned to play tennis and played in competitions and with family and friends for many years. Betty also liked gardening and enjoyed growing plants and flowers. She took special delight in her 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, at the Providence Stake Center, 800 S. 600 E., River Heights, Utah. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2009, at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 N., Logan, Utah and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Providence Stake Center. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's honor to the Douglas Ralph Bean Scholarship at Utah State University, 1420 Old Main Hill, Logan, Utah 84322-1420.
