PROMONTORY - Brent H Larsen, 59, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 in a tragic accident near his home in Promontory, UT. He was born in Brigham City July 1, 1949 to Merlin H and Clara Helen Petersen Larsen. Brent married his sweetheart, Carol Singleton, in the Logan Utah Temple Sept 22, 1971. Brent spent his childhood on the family ranch in Promontory. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, served a mission in Eastern Canada and graduated from USU with a B.S. in Plant Science. He joined the Army ROTC in college and flew military helicopters until he returned to Utah to work for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in SLC. In 1980 Brent returned to Promontory with his family to manage the ranch. He also worked for Thiokol/ATK for 26 years. Brent loved to be busy; farming, expanding and improving the house and spending time with his nine children and their families. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, music, reading, swimming, photography and cooking for his family. He served as president of the Promontory Branch for nearly twenty years and held many other positions. Brent was deeply loved by all who knew him and he loved to serve. He is survived by his wife Carol, children Jarrod H Larsen Keri, Matthew Glen Larsen Teresa, Michael Brent Larsen Jamie, Jennifer Larsen, Heather Swenson Jason, Megan Larsen, Adam Merlin Larsen Amanda, Alex John Larsen, Benjamin Carl Larsen, serving in the Russia Samara Mission and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by stepmother Doris, father-in-law Glen Singleton, siblings Steven H Larsen Mary, Tamara Rogers Dave, Pamala Hess Hal, Nanette Mecham Blaine, Tessa Breier Jerry, William Flint Paulina and brother-in-law Richard Protich. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy Ann Protich, brother Douglas Merlin Larsen, and step-brother Dallas Flint.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 11:00 a.m. at the Thatcher-Penrose LDS Ward Chapel, 11475 West 10400 North, Thatcher with Bishop Lanny Lewis officiating. Family and friends may call Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Thursday from 9:15–10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment at West Point Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
