Carol Petersen Edwards

November 9, 1940 — February 12, 2010

Carol Petersen Edwards was born on November 9th 1940 at the Logan Hospital, the daughter of Robert Christian and Mildred Thompson Petersen. She spent her formative years between Clarkston and Ogden. In 1955 she married Howell Hopkin Mifflin of Roy. They were divorced not long after that, but not before producing a daughter, Jean. Carol eventually settled in Fielding to care for Eliza Pack Godfrey, the mother of Hyrum Heber Godfrey, who came to be like a proper father to Jean. In 1967, Carol married Douglas Larsen Edwards and moved to Logan, staying there until 1977, when they moved back to Fielding. Douglas passed on in 1998. Carol shuffled off this mortal coil on February 12 of this year after a long life of caring for the elderly both privately and for the Sunshine Terrace in the '60s and '70s. She expired suddenly from heart failure due to atherosclerosis and a ruptured heart muscle. She was a 'good soldier' of a worker, a kind, caring friend and parent, and will be greatly missed. Carol loved to read, working on genealogy, enjoyed singing and listening to music, and occasionally kept a journal. In her youth, she played football and baseball with the neighbor boys, keeping up with them splendidly. She loved all kinds of music, esp. Gene Autry, Mario Lanza, and many others too numerous to mention here. Carol is survived by her daughter Jean, and grandson Patrick, brothers Robert Clayne and wife Carol Judd Petersen of Las Vegas, Nevada; James Cleon and wife Christine Oliverson Petersen of Hyde Park: sister Shirley Ann Penrod of Ogden , Donald Petersen of Logan and Ronald Petersen whereabouts unknown. There will be a modest memorial held in her honor on the 17th of April at 1:00 PM in the Logan Third Ward church on 250 North 400 West. Friends and family are welcomed to attend.
