Catherine Misenar

August 25, 1915 — June 7, 2010

On June 7th, 2010 Catherine Ellen Misenar, Kay left this life to rejoin her mother Amanda Keller, Father James Walsh, and son Kenneth Wayne Dahlstrom.
Kay was born August 25, 1915 in Chicago, Ill. She attended St. Sylvester�s Catholic School and graduated from Austin High School. She was employed at Wilson Jones Staty and Ryerson Steel. On September 23, 1939 she married Harold W. Dahlstrom. They eventually moved to the Bay Area of California to assist in the war effort. After the war she worked for International Harvester and later assisted her husband in his own business. They adopted two children; Debra Mae and Kenneth Wayne deceased. Their marriage was desolved in 1959. She later married James F. Misenar and moved to Seattle Washington where she worked for the State of Washington. She then moved to Olympia where she worked for State Senator Harry Lewis. She later worked in the Office for the Nisqually Indian Tribe.
She retired and moved to Logan Utah to be near her daughter and family. In her retirement she volunteered as Treasurer at the local AARP and the Senior Volunteer program. Her greatest loves were spending time with her family, entertaining dinner guests, shopping and going out to lunch. She loved driving her car not wanting to give up her keys until the age of 92 where she finally relented and gave them up and sold her car!
She is survived by her daughter Debra Mae Sortor, son in law Donnie Sortor, daughter in law Becky Dahlstrom, and sister in law Marcia Mathison; her nieces and nephew Gordon, Peggy and Martha California, Karen Washington, Marian Chicago; her six grandchildren Levi, Olivia, Robbie California, John, Lance and Candace Utah. Also twelve great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Kay�s family would like to express their thanks to the staff and faculty of the Sunshine Terrace for the loving care that they gave to Kay in her final days.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
