Cole Jay Westergard

Tremonton ? Cole Jay Westergard passed away January 15, at the Bear River Valley Hospital after a three year battle with cancer. Cole was born March 8, 1958, to Jay and Rowane Westergard. He was reared and educated in the Bear River Valley graduating from Bear River High School in 1976, and then attended USU. He married his high school sweetheart, Shanna Johnson, March 15, 1980, in the Logan LDS Temple. Cole worked in Management at ATK for the past 25 years. Cole gave a lifetime of service to his community. He was a member of the Tremonton Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and was presently serving as a Captain. Cole was recently awarded the 2009 Tremonton Firefighter of the Year. Throughout his life Cole valiantly served in all Church organizations. His church service began by serving in the California Anaheim Spanish speaking Mission. He was a High Priest in the Tremonton 11th Ward and was presently serving as a Stake High councilman. He is survived by his wife Shanna J Westergard, sons, Skyler Cole Sarah Westergard and Cory L Sana Westergard, daughter Cami Westergard, and one granddaughter Ella Sophia. Also surviving are his parents, two sisters, and one brother. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 19, at 11:00 AM at the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 North 300 East, with Bishop Steven Cox officiating. Family and friends may call Monday from 6-8 pm at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, in Tremonton, and Tuesday from 9:15-10:40 at the Stake Center. Interment will be at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
