Darin Wendell Roberts

May 8, 1974 — March 23, 2009

Darin Wendell Roberts, 34, passed away on March 23, 2009. He was born May 8, 1974 in Logan, Utah to Alan and Sharon Roberts. He grew up in Smithfield, Utah and graduated from Sky View High School and LDS Seminary. He loved the scouting program and earned his Order of the Arrow as well as his Eagle Scout. Following high school he served an LDS mission to New Zealand.
Darin married Holly Nelson on August 26, 1996. Together they welcomed four beautiful children into their lives. Darin loved spending time with his wife and children. Their life together was spent in Cache Valley, Indiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and most recently Saratoga Springs, Utah. Darin's greatest joys in life were his family and giving service. He found the most peace while serving others whether it was a family member or someone he just met. He had a gift for recognizing needs in others and took advantage of every opportunity to help, befriend, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. He drew people to him especially the troubled, down-trodden and friendless. He especially enjoyed spending time with the elderly and with children. He loved playing the piano and singing, and spent many hours doing both at the Sunshine Terrace Nursing Home. He was the one to liven up family gatherings and was the favorite uncle of his many nieces and nephews. Darin will be most remembered for his love and concern for others and his ability to help them smile, laugh and have fun. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and enjoyed serving in many different callings. He took every opportunity to share his testimony with others. He was a wonderful father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend and will be incredibly missed by all who came to know him.
Darin is survived by his wife Holly, his children; Taylor 12, Tanner 9, Cayden 4, and Jordyn 2, his parents Alan and Sharon Roberts of Smithfield, a brother Bryan Leslie Roberts of Sugar House, a sister Lori Jo Billy Hafford of Vail, Colorado, and a grandmother Ruth Robinson of North Logan. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ron and Doris Roberts, and Loy Robinson.
A viewing will be held Thursday, March 26th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main in Smithfield. There will also be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to the funeral services on Friday, March 27th at the Nibley Stake Center 360 W. 3200 S. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 am.
