David A. Falor

David A. Falor 78, of Smithfield, passed away on Tuesday January 24, 2012 in Smithfield. He was born January 17, 1934 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, second child of George and Jennie Falor. He attended public schools in Sioux Falls. As a young boy his father taught him to fish the rivers and hunt in the hills and fields around Sioux Falls. His love for the outdoors continued throughout his life. David joined the Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict. On September 18, 1954 he married Loretta Flynn in the St Joseph's Cathedral in Sioux Falls. In 1955 Dave and Loretta moved to Salt Lake City where he began his 36 year career with Mountain Fuel Supply Company. He transferred to the Logan office in 1974 and worked as the warehouse supervisor. David was a member of the Catholic Church and served as a scout master for Troop 231 St. Francis Xavier in Kearns, Utah. He is survived by his beloved wife Loretta, and four children: William Merriett of Smithfield, Julieanne Twiss of Murray, Laura deceased Rick Patti St George, and Jeff Cyndi of Hyde Park. He had 17 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren, and one brother Darwin Shelly of Sioux Falls, and a sister Gwen Lenny Stack of Wolford Heights, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Daryl, his daughter, Laura, and a grandson David Dickenson. A viewing will be held at Nelson Funeral Home in Smithfield, Utah, Friday evening from 6:00-7:30 with a vigil starting at 7:30. Mass will be held Saturday January, 28, at the St Thomas Aquanis Church in Hyde Park, at 10:00 with a viewing one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be at the Smithfield cemetery.
