Dean Collings Petersen

Dean C. Petersen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the age of 88. Born in Brigham City, Utah, on February 13, 1930 to Joseph Lars Petersen and Desseret C. Petersen. Dean was the second youngest son in a family of 11 children. He was a hardworking and compassionate man. He served during the Korean War; after the war he returned to his career at Gus Paulos Chevrolet. He retired from there after 49+ years. A beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, always willing to help anyone in need. He loved to work with his hands and was passionate about his woodworking and made many beautiful pieces his family will cherish. He raised his family with his wife Dolores, in Magna, Utah. After retirement they moved to Bear Lake Idaho where he had built their dream home. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Russell, Arland, Ivan, Melvin and Stan and his sisters Mildred, Ellen, Ruby, Virginia, and Pearl. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 64 years, Dolores Williams Petersen of Hyde Park, UT; his son Michael Petersen (Linda dec.) of Farmington AR; son Brent Petersen of Nibley, UT; and daughter Rhonda Derrick (Steve) of Logan, UT. In addition, Dean was blessed with six grandchildren, four step grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Autumn Care of Hyde Park for looking after Dean these past few months.
A graveside service will be held at Hyde Park, UT Cemetery on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
