Denzil Lorin Coleman

Denzil Lorin Coleman, 81, died Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho following complications from heart surgery. He was born in Smithfield, Utah, June 1, 1929, to Lorin Hamer Coleman and Elva Fontella Andersen Coleman.
Denzil graduated from North Cache High School. He served in the Army and was stationed in Colorado Springs, Yuma, Arizona and Korea, 1950-52.
Upon returning from Korea, he married Elaine Erickson in the Logan Temple on September 22, 1952.
Denzil enjoyed farming in Smithfield and Dayton, Idaho. Denzil established his own grain seed business, where he raised seed grain. He had his own grain cleaning business and had his Seed Dealer's License from the State of Idaho, Department of Agriculture to sell certified grain seed. Denzil received a blue and red ribbon for his grain displays at the Franklin, Idaho County Fair.
He served on the Dayton City Council and Franklin County Farmers Home Administration Committee. He served in various positions in the L.D.S. Church, including 12 ½ years as an ordinance worker in the Logan Temple and an 18 month mission with his wife, Elaine, to the Manila Philippines Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother and sister, and step-mother, Loa Thomson. He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Smithfield; daughters, Nancy Aston of Preston, Idaho, and Annette Hillman Ron of Hamer, Idaho. Twin brother, Denton Beverly of Logan and brother, Lyle Joyce of Smithfield; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Step brothers and sisters: VerNell Harmon, J. Richard Thomson, ElDora Anderson, Harold S. Thomson, and Leland D. Thomson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at the Smithfield 7th Ward Chapel, 79 East 200 South, Smithfield, Utah. Viewings will be held at the same location of Friday, May 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 14, from 11:30 to 12:30p.m. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com . In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LDS Missionary Fund.
