Denzil Reed Harris

Denzil Reed Harris, 83, returned to his heavenly home on September 18, 2010. He passed away in his sleep from natural causes as a result of advancing age and declining health.
Denny was born October 22, 1926, in Logan, Utah, the youngest of seven children, to Joseph Smith and Hilda Augusta Anderson Harris. He married Patricia Louise Fry in the Logan LDS Temple on July 19, 1968. Patricia had three children from a previous marriage, whom Denny adopted on July 26, 1969. The family was later sealed together in the Logan LDS Temple. Denny and Patricia also had two additional children together. Denny quietly but undeniably loved his family greatly, typically placing the welfare of his family above his own. He was a hard worker until his health no longer permitted, having a part time job in addition to full time employment much of his life. His employment included house painting with his father, and custodial work for Utah State University, Wilson Motor Co., Auto Care Automotive, and Gossner Foods. Denny was an avid photographer as well as a student of photography. He was a lifelong fan of USU athletics. In his younger years he enjoyed pitching for church fast-pitch softball teams. Denny was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Joseph Reuel Ruth Harris, Florence Anderson Hyrum Croft, Grant Anderson Jenabee Harris; and a sister-in-law, Bertha Harris. He is survived by his wife; his children, Raymond Dee Harris, Donald William Harris, Shawn Del Philip Hunsaker Wendy Louise Clifton Heath, and David Ryan Harris; his brothers, Walter Anderson Anna Laura Harris, Oliver Wesley Harris, and Robert George Virginia Harris; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank everyone at Alpine hospice for their loving care of Dad in his final months, which allowed him to stay in the home of his daughter until the end. We could not have done it without you.
Per Denny's request, a gravesite ceremony will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Logan City Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan and also Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
