Dixie Doreen Packard Decker peacefully returned to her Father in Heaven on November 12th, 2019, in her home in Logan, Utah. Dixie was born in Lovell, Wyoming on February 19, 1941, the daughter of Ivan Earl and Tennessee Gwynn Packard. She had a wonderful childhood in Omaha, Nebraska. Dixie married Joseph Franklin Decker for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 21, 1961. They lived in Los Angeles, CA, Nuremburg, Germany and Rochester, MN, before settling down in Logan, UT. Dixie graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1985 (Summa Cum Laude). She enjoyed serving others and was a member of the Salt Lake City Zoo Docent Council, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Clio, and she volunteered as a Tax Advisor for the Senior Citizen Center. These activities reflect her love for serving her family, community, and wild animals (particularly elephants). She also loved reading, gardening, traveling, music and gathering with her family creating wonderful memories with gourmet foods. Her church callings included Relief Society President, Primary President, teacher, and music chorister. Dixie served with her husband in the South Eastern States Mission based in Florida. She also served as a Temple Ordinance Worker in the Logan Temple for 7 years. Dixie is preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Riley and Donald Packard. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Joseph Franklin Decker, her 7 children and their spouses: Michael and Maren, Karl and Elizabeth, William and Cynthia, Robert and Wynlee, Ronald and Jennifer, Kate and Alex, Jon and Alyson. She will also be missed by her brother Bill Packard, her 24 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A closed casket viewing will be held Saturday November, 16th at 10:30am followed by the funeral service at 12:00pm. The Location for both will be the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Riverside ward building, 325 Lauralin Dr. Logan, Ut.
