Doris Budge

November 4, 1920 — February 14, 2011

Doris Wallin Budge, age 90, passed away on February 14, 2011. One of her life-long goals was to reach the "ripe young age" of 90. Doris was born to Alvin G. Wallin and Lillian R. Wallin on November 4, 1920, in Salt Lake City, UT. She was the oldest daughter of seven siblings and the last surviving child. Doris was educated in Salt Lake City and a graduate of Granite High School, where she excelled in debate. She graduated from Utah State University, majoring in Dietetics. Doris was affiliated with the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. During her college years she met her life-long companion, Dr. Edwin C. Budge. She was preceded in death by "Dr Ed" in 1999. Doris and Ed raised three children: Bill Budge DeeAnn, Jerry Lynn Mathis and Patricia Ann Clarke Tom. She was blessed with four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ed and "Dode" prided themselves with living a full and wonderful life devoted to skiing, fishing, golf, family and loving each other. Doris's passion was her home and the surrounding wooded yard.
Doris was a member of the Cache County Board of Education for 20 years 1956-1976. During her term on the board, she was instrumental in developing and ultimately consummating the building of Sky View High School, a feat of which she was extremely proud. Doris served as the president of the Ladies Association of the Logan Golf and Country Club. She was also actively involved in civic affairs in her home town of Smithfield, UT.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 22, at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield, UT. Viewing hours will be from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Following the viewing, a graveside service celebrating Doris' life will be conducted at the Logan City Cemetery at 12:00. The Logan City Cemetery is located at 1200 East and 800 North, Logan, UT.
