Dorothy Christine Reed Maughan

Logan - Dorothy Christine Reed Maughan, 68, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Logan Regional Hospital. She was born December 2, 1941 in Long Beach, California to Lawrence William and Rachel Mary Bishop Reed. Dorothy was raised in California and graduated from Ocean Side High School. She received her Bachelor's degree in Education from Utah State University. She married Arden S. Maughan and to this union four children were born. She loved education. She taught at Woodruff Elementary and was employed in the Logan School District for 33 years. Upon retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Logan Senior Center. Dorothy enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, painting, sewing and most importantly, her grandchildren. She was a very active member of the St. John's Episcopal Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Dorothy is survived by her children: Cheree Scott McAlees, West Jordan, Ut; Lawrence Teresa Maughan, Brigham City, Ut; Christopher Allan Kelly Maughan, Weston, Id; Lauralee Maughan, Benson, Ut; and 8 grandchildren: Colton G. Amber Maughan; James D. Maughan; Stephanie L. Maughan; Taylor J. Maughan; Jonathan L. Maughan; Jessica S. Maughan; Dalton Maughan; Wyatt E. Maughan and many more kids she "adopted" over the years that she loved and adored. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the St. John's Episcopal Church, 85 East 100 North, Logan, Ut. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Champ Fellowship Hall at St. John's prior to the service. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
