Dorothy Ruth Chambers Harrison, surrounded by her family, passed away on Nov. 11, 2018 in Hyrum, Utah. Ruth was born to George and Tacy Chambers on April 21, 1929, in Smithfield, Utah, which is where she spent her childhood. Growing up, she loved performing, singing, and art. However, she could also be found alongside her father thinning sugar beets, tromping hay, or riding a horse. Ruth served a mission to Western Canada which is where she met Elder Deane Harrison and where they impressed each other with their hard work. She graduated from Utah State University, taught Home Ec., P.E., and coached the girl’s soft ball team at Lewiston Jr. High. She married Ronald Deane Harrison in the Logan Temple on December 20, 1952. They have 35 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. Ruth supported her children in many activities in school and church. She encouraged her children to develop educationally and musically which legacy has reached down to her great grandchildren. She was active in her community where she served on the City Council, Library Board, PTA, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and as a 4-H leader.
Ruth and Deane were devoted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They served two mission together; one to Zambia, and the other to the Philippines.
