Elizabeth Ann Wood Thom Allen
Elizabeth Ann Allen beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed from this existence into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 25th at the age of 69 from Alzheimer's. Elizabeth was born July 10th 1942 to Dr. Eugene and Evelyn Wood in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from West High School where she sang in the A Capella choir. After graduation she attended BYU. While married to Derrick they lived in Michigan, Kenya, Africa and throughout Europe, always calling Logan, UT home. They were later divorced. Her favorite title was that of Mother. She devoted her life to her children. She taught them grace, a deep appreciation for art and music, and to love unconditionally. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. Elizabeth had a special and unique relationship with each grandchild. After raising her children Elizabeth worked at Utah State University for 15 years and retired as the Associate Registrar.
Elizabeth married Roger Merrill Allen in the Salt Lake Temple on May 22 1993. She was happy to become the mother of two more children and help raise them. She imparted her love of art and music to her new family. Elizabeth and Roger spent many happy years together. They lived in Logan, California, and in Arizona. Elizabeth enjoyed riding with Roger on his motorcycle and exploring the country. She loved to fish with Roger and with her father before his passing. Elizabeth was a faithful and obedient member of the LDS Church. She had a special understanding and profound love of the gospel. She served as Primary President and as Relief Society President multiple times. Elizabeth volunteered many years at Hillcrest Elementary sharing her love of art and music with the children. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice that filled her home. She kept singing until her last day. She was a life-long learner and valued education attending Utah State University in her later years. Elizabeth was well known for her candy making at Christmas, delicious breads, and her famous chocolate chip cookies. She was a woman of grace and a friend to everyone.
