Eunice Curnow Gunnell

December 27, 1938 — May 15, 2010

LOGAN - Eunice Gunnell, 71, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away May 15, 2010, after a two-year battle with cancer. She fought valiantly and faced her challenges with a positive attitude. Her perseverance and faith is an inspiration to us all. Eunice was born in Butte, Mont., on Dec. 27, 1938, the fourth of six daughters born to William Arthur Curnow and Ruth Warren Curnow. She married Ronald Clive Curdy on Nov. 24, 1956. They are the parents of eight children and later divorced. Her life was dedicated to serving both family and friends. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Eunice served throughout her life in many church calls. Many of the most rewarding were serving the sisters in the church. Eunice has always had a special gift for making and being a good friend. She has many cherished friends that have been a strength and support to her over the years. On July 9, 1994, she married her eternal companion, Reed Heninger Gunnell, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they served a full-time mission to Hawaii, and also spent many years working together in the Logan Temple. Eunice loved to travel, and she and Reed enjoyed taking trips together. They visited the Holy Land, Egypt, New York, Nauvoo and Canada, to name a few.
Eunice loved family and she was always ready to have a party. Having family parties and get-togethers with friends was her specialty. She loved her grandchildren and made many special memories with them. She loved taking the grandchildren to the Nutcracker Ballet, or to have them over for a special night of fun with just Grandma and Grandpa. These times together as a family created many fond memories and built lasting relationships. Together Eunice and Reed have 13 children, 46 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Reed; children: Mark Eileen Curdy, Ronda Hansen, Gail Curdy, Shauna Dan Colvin, Aaron RaNae Curdy, Joseph Irene Curdy, Manny Deon Curdy, Raphael Rocio Curdy; stepchildren: Bruce Casey Gunnell, Carey Kris Gunnell, Lorie Charles Brown, Lois Bob Summers, Randi Carter; and sisters: Dorothy Frank Monroe, Arlene Chris Levengood. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Virginia Dilulo, Lois Lutey and Beverly Joyce Curnow; nephew Scott Levengood; and grandsons Shane Gunnell and Tysen Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 21, at the Logan 10th Ward LDS Chapel, 800 N. 500 East in Logan. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at Nelson Funeral Home and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery.
