Farrell K Sparks

Farrell Nick Sparks passed away on July 30, 2012 at his home in Smithfield, Utah. He was born in Rupert, Idaho on November 29, 1931 to John and Annie Griffiths Sparks. As a young boy he moved with his family to Banida, Idaho and received his education in Preston, Idaho. He married Hilda Gregersen on May 27, 1955. They were blessed with two sons, Bland and Blake. Farrell served three years in the US Army with the 44th Battalion of Engineers. He received his basic training in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, overseas duty in Inchon, Korea and received an honorable discharge in El Paso, Texas on May 31, 1956. He was then employed by Utah Power & Light as an equipment operator retiring in 1995. He was an active member in the LDS Church serving in many capacities in both Ward and Stake. He served two LDS Missions. One, as a young man in the Southwest Indian Mission and later he served a second mission with his wife in Anaheim, California. He was a temple worker in the Logan Temple for 13 years. He is survived by his wife, Hilda, two sons, Bland Debbie of Smithfield and Blake Paula of Hyde Park; a daughter, Emily Cody Davis of Millville. Two brothers, David Clarence; John Mervin; and a sister, Carol Jean Jessop. 7 grandchildren & 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Anna Lue Griffiths; three brothers, J. Vere, William Bill and Loren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 12 Noon, at the Smithfield 10th Ward Chapel, 451 South 250 East, Smithfield. There will be a viewing on Thursday evening at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan from 6-8 p.m. and at the Church on Friday, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
