Frank Hayward Schaub

November 1, 1918 — May 17, 2010

Frank Hayward Schaub, 91, died Monday May 17th 2010, at his home in Benson, Utah. He was born November 1st, 1918 in Logan, Utah. He was the 7th of 9 children born to Conrad Eugene Schaub and Mary Ann Gilgen. A son of Swiss immigrants, Frank grew up in the Logan 10th ward, affectionately known as "Little Berlin." Even at a young age, he had a keen interest in all things mechanical, especially automobiles. He joined the National Guard as a young man and was called to active duty during WW II. There, his natural abilities were put to use as a tank mechanic. After the war, he married Adele Beutler in the Logan L.D.S. Temple on May 29th, 1946. He was employed as an auto mechanic and was well known and respected in the community for his technical expertise, honesty, and integrity. Frank also had a passion for woodworking, and over the years, fashioned an heirloom cradle for each of his children's first born. During Frank and Adele's retirement years, they enjoyed frequent road trips by car and on his Honda 750. One of their favorite memories was a motorcycle road trip, complete with leather jackets at the age of 72. He and Adele loved music. Frank played his C melody Saxophone whenever he could, and instilled his love of music to his family. Frank is survived by his wife Adele, two sisters, Margene Clyde Hurst, Colleen Whittington, five children, Nancy Theon Merrill, Deborah David Crockett, Jennifer Rick Bell, James Conrad Lori Schaub, Laurel Doug James; twenty-four grandchildren and forty-two great-grandchildren. The family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff at Access Hospice for their loving care of Frank.
