Garth Snow Larsen

January 17, 1926 — September 27, 2012

Garth Larsen passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2012 at the Logan Regional Hospital after suffering multiple health problems. He was born at home in Cove, Utah Jan. 17, 1926 to Owen and Della Biggs Larsen. He spent his boyhood years in Richmond, Utah where he graduated from North Cache High School in 1944. Garth joined the army immediately after graduation and served in the European Theater of Operations during WWII in the Rainbow Division. He met his eternal companion, Shirley Coleman, on a blind date in December of 1945. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple Sept. 4, 1946 and were together for 66 wonderful years. Garth and Shirley started their new life together in Logan, Utah where Garth worked for the Logan Laundry as a route driver. After 10 years, he left the laundry to establish his own business, Garth's TV Sales & Service in Smithfield, Utah. He operated this successful business for 32 years and was known for his honesty and hard work. After closing his shop, he joined Rockwell International at Little Mountain, Utah in 1985 and retired in 1991. Garth and Shirley traveled extensively, but their favorite trip was cruising the Greek Islands on a Clipper ship for their 50th wedding anniversary. Garth served in several callings in the LDS Church, including as a counselor in a Bishopric. Garth is survived by his wife Shirley and four children: Lynn Larsen Andrea, Cindy Budge Mike, Pam Soren Leon and Becky Ginos Jim/deceased, 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren with two on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Larsen Ken. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dale Larsen, sister Joyce O'Banion, sister-in-law Margene Larsen and son-in-law Jim Ginos. Services will be held Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 at noon in the Smithfield 10th Ward Chapel at 470 South 250 East. Family will greet friends at a viewing Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Smithfield, 85 S. Main, and also at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. The family would like to thank the staff of Intermountain Dialysis and the Intermountain Hospice team for their loving care during Garth's final days.
