George Doyle Lundberg

May 16, 1928 — January 19, 2010

George Doyle Whitey Lundberg, 80, of Smithfield, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the LDS Hospital from cancer. He was born on May 16, 1929 to Norman and Deana Ransom Lundberg. He grew up in Smithfield and graduated from North Cache High School. He was in the National Guard and served in the Korean War with an honorable discharge. He was a good athlete and played fast pitch softball and was a good pitcher. He was a brick layer by trade and bricked many buildings in the area and California. He completed his last and final job in 2008. Doyle is survived by his four children: Dennis Celeste of Smithfield; Sue Dave Bennett of Millville; Kevin and Kim of Smithfield; and brothers: Royce Launa and Hal Rayna of Smithfield. He had 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law Lorraine. Dad and Uncle Royce always had coffee every morning ; to see them holler and argue with each other was like watching the movie ?Grumpy Old Men?. There will be a graveside service held at a later date with full military honors at the Smithfield City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
