Gladys Pitcher Teuscher

May 25, 1921 — October 6, 2012

Mom left this life peacefully in the early morning of October 6, 2012 at the Logan Nursing and Rehab Center. Gladys was born May 25, 1921 to Joseph and Mabel Covey Pitcher in Smithfield. She was the youngest of six children. She married Grant F. Teuscher on May 5, 1942. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS temple. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters and one grandson. Mom is survived by three children; Stephen Suzanne Teuscher, Smithfield; Scott LaDawn Teuscher, Farr West, Utah and Loye Parker, Logan. She also parted leaving 10 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and 28 great-grandchildren. Mom lived in Smithfield most of her life with the exception of two years in Preston and five years in Lava Hot Springs. When mom and dad were first married they lived in a trailer in Delta; but, that may not count as having lived in a place since it was a very short time according to her!. During her lifetime mother worked in many places and many different jobs. She worked in various cafes in Preston and Marv's Café in Smithfield. She also worked at the café in the Smithfield Livestock Auction. In Lava Hot Springs she worked for the State Foundation at the hot pools. One of her most treasured endeavors was the 10 years that she volunteered at the Logan Regional Hospital. Mom was a member of the LDS church and fulfilled many duties that she was asked to do. She was a member of the Lady Lions in Smithfield and belonged to the Good Sams RV Club. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and an avid supporter of the Blue Sox baseball club. After dad retired, they traveled to many places with their travel trailer. Sight seeing, fishing, traveling with friends and meeting new friends was one of their most enjoyable pastimes. They spent many winters as Snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona and other warm places. Their trips to Hawaii and Branson were two of their favorite adventures! Reading and crocheting were a couple of mother's favorite pastimes. She made innumerable Afghans over the years which are now in the possession of all her family members. Everyone that had the opportunity to know her loved her quick and sharp sense of humor! We love you mom – you will be missed! Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 12 noon in the Smithfield 1st Ward Chapel, 79 East 200 South. Friends may call Wednesday evening at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. Condolence may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com . The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Szpuar, Logan Nursing and Rehab Center, and the IHC Hospice organization.
