Glen LaMar Fraser

October 17, 1934 — June 17, 2010

Glen LaMar "Bud" Fraser passed away peacefully at his home in Smithfield, Utah Thursday evening, June 17th, 2010, surrounded by his family. Bud was born in Grace, Idaho on October 17th, 1934, to Glen Witbeck and Arvilla Sorensen Fraser. He was raised working on the family farm. Bud graduated from Grace High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17. He then married Joanne Robinson on July 28th, 1953 in Preston, Idaho while on leave from serving aboard the aircraft carrier "Palau". Joanne later joined him when he was stationed in Oklahoma, Florida, and Rhode Island. After completing military service, Bud and Joanne moved back to Idaho, where he worked in farming and trucking. He moved his family to Alaska in 1965 where he worked as a Teamster, driving trucks and large equipment for road building and construction projects. He also spent many years driving tractor-trailer rigs to deliver freight throughout far-flung parts of Alaska and Yukon Territory. Bud and Joanne moved south to Cache Valley in 1988, living in Smithfield for the past 22 years. Bud worked in Logan managing the Bluebird Candy factory. Bud enjoyed visiting with family. His extended family members were continually entertained by his earthy observations, outrageous poems, and songs with humorous lyrics. This collection of literature was known as "Bud"isms. He is survived by his wife, Joanne, of Smithfield, Utah; sons Keith Judy of Centerville, Utah, Brian Kaylin of Powder Springs, Georgia, Steven Laurie of American Fork, Utah, Brent of Anchorage, Alaska, John Nicole of Boise, Idaho, Gary Clarissa of Houston, Texas; sisters Pauline Egbert of Grace, Idaho, Carol Glen Turner of Smithfield, Utah, Janice Dick Motta of Fish Haven, Idaho; also 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Monday, June 21st, at 11:00 AM a.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. There will be a viewing on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Smithfield Cemetery.
