Gordon Carter Bird

Gordon Carter Bird, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family April 24, 2010. Gordon was born September 8, 1951 in Payson, Utah to James and Phyllis Bird. He moved to Logan in 1959, and he attended Logan High School. He married Marcia Brown and had a daughter, Michelle. They later divorced. He married Shelley Barber January 6, 1984, and happily became a step-father to her three children. Gordon worked at Wurlitzers, Don?s Auto Body, and finally Schreibers Foods for the last 26 years. Besides his family, he took great pride in his immaculate yard and clean cars. He was an avid golfer and spent many days on the course. He is survived by his wife, Shelley, and children, Michelle Curt Martin, Scott Kandyce Barber, Candice Barber, Kathryn Dustin Lofthouse, 10 grandchildren, mother, Phyllis, and siblings, Merrill Tacy Bird, Carol Jay Cowley, Eileen Steve Jensen, Joan Jim Bradley, and Connie Bob Whitaker. He was preceded in death by his father, James, sisters, Deanne Rawlings and Sharon Bird, and his father-in law and mother-in-law, Grant and Connie Sorensen. A special thanks to Steve Evans and Diane Crockett his ?nice wife? at Access Home Health Care for their support and compassion. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cache Valley Cancer Treatment Clinic. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Logan City Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday, April 26, 2010 at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield from 6 to 8 p.m. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
