Harry Laycock

Tremonton, UT – Harry Laycock, 85 died Sunday, May 3, 2009. He was born May 21, 1923, in Burnley, Lancashire, England to Fred and Sarah Ellen Laycock. Harry married Beryl Ida Walker April 5, 1947. They emigrated to America in 1950, where Harry became a naturalized American citizen. He and Beryl were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Harry worked at Kennecott Copper Corporation, retiring in 1983 after 33 years with that corporation. In September, 1977, his wife Beryl passed away, after 31 years of marriage. June 16, 1978, Harry married Barbara Ann Conger in the Salt Lake Temple. Harry was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Both Harry and Barbara served as ordinance workers in the Vernal Temple, Harry serving for five years.
Harry loved to drive and drove Yellow Cab, Greyline sightseeing tours, and school buses for Washington County, Iron County and Uintah County. Other hobbies were model airplanes and model trains. Both Harry and Barbara loved dogs and raised AKC Dobermans for twenty-five years.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Kathleen and Dorothy; a son, David John, his first wife, Beryl Ida, a daughter, Julie Anne, grandsons: Wade and Kyle Baldwin, and a grandniece, Megan Buchanan.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Laycock, two sons: Dayle Walker and Paul Austin Laycock; grandsons: James Buckman and Daniel Laycock-Modderman, Ben Hrach; and granddaughters: Sarah, Elizabeth and Danielle Laycock.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2009 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton 6th Ward Chapel, 660 North 300 East, Tremonton under the direction of Bishop Michael Bowcutt. Family and friends may call Wednesday, May 6, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Thursday from 9:30-10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the West Jordan City Cemetery.
