J. Kenneth Seamons

January 14, 1925 — April 23, 2010

LOGAN--James Kenneth Seamons, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 23, 2010, at the Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, Utah surrounded by his family. He was born January 14, 1925 in Cornish, Utah to James Seamons and Vella Saunders, the first of six children. He attended elementary school in Cornish where his dad was teacher/principal. The family moved to North Logan and Ken graduated from South Cache High School. Soon after graduation, he was drafted into the Navy where he spent three years in the South Pacific. Upon returning from duty he married Joyce Beutler on June 7, 1946 in the Logan LDS Temple, the same day that Joyce's sister, Betty, was married. In their early married life he and Joyce resided in Logan, where Ken was employed by Firestone, Crystal Furniture, and ending his career with Utah State University Men's Athletics as equipment manager. He immensely enjoyed the 26 years he was responsible for the well-being of hundreds of athletes. He never missed a game, and continued into retirement anticipating and looking forward to meeting all his friends and associates. "Kenny, The Boss of the Wash," as he was affectionately referred to enjoyed a good game of golf, a well manicured yard, a shiny car, a flashy sport coat with an eye-catching tie, and a loving wife on his arm. Ken was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His most enjoyable 3 years were serving as an ordinance worker in the Logan LDS Temple. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 64 years; daughters Judy Mark Daines of Hyde Park, UT, Jan Roy Hugie of Mt. Sterling, UT, and one son, Blake Tami Seamons of Smithfield, UT; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are four younger sisters, Sharon Nathan Friedli of Logan, UT, Sonja Nyman of North Logan, UT, Marlene Thomas Slater of Centerville, UT, and Marcia Moss of Logan UT. A younger brother, Ferris preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Providence 4th Ward Chapel, 155 North 100 East, Providence, Utah. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan and on Wednesday at the church prior to services from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
