Jack Gus Mieure

Garland, UT – Jack Gus Mieure 77, passed away July 5, 2010 at his home with family by his bedside due to cancer. He was born July 4, 1933 to Gus and Bessie Mieure in Bridgeport, Illinois. He married Marjorie Gingell and they later divorced. He married Judy Kay Abbott on May 29, 1981 in Roosevelt, UT. They were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple. He called Judy his beautiful silver haired angel, how very special for his wife. He also, at times, called her his "chick". He was a wonderful, loving, caring and a funny humorous man. Everyone admired and loved him no matter whom it was, family, friends, etc… He touched their hearts and souls, instantly he was our gentle giant. Jack was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and held various callings. He grew up on a farm in Sumner, Illinois. He loved anything related to farming and family. He was a manager of many farm stores in Roosevelt, UT, a farmer's co-op, Pro AG Service, IFA Farm Store and he also managed a Sinclair Full Service Station. After retirement he returned to the home of Judy's Parents in Tremonton and lived there for 10 years and went to work for Box Elder County Weed Control for summer work. He loved doing this and loved his boss and co-workers. They were like family to him and he was greatly saddened not to be able to go back to work there this last spring. Jack served his country during the Korean War in the Army as a field wire man for 8 years. He had a great love for gardening and making his yard beautiful. He along with his Wife Judy were honored two different times with the Green Arrow Yard Award during their 10 year stay in Tremonton. They moved to Garland, UT on December 20, 2009 in a new home that he loved dearly and continued work in the garden and his yard. He is survived by his Wife, Judy; Children: Richard, Ronnie Janell, Jim Danell, Steven Christie, Carol Hector, Gordon Lynn and Nancy Mieure; Brothers: Martin and Jerry; Sisters: Thelma Adkins and Edna Enoch Ahlfield; 19 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by His Step-Children: Martin Koford, Janette Grover and Debbie Jensen and 7 Step Grandchildren and 4 Step Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brothers: Raymond, Delbert, Leslie, George; Sisters: Viola Wiegel and Mary Legg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home Chapel 111 North 100 East Tremonton, UT. A viewing will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 - 10:40 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Tremonton Riverview Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
