Jesse LeRoy Malmberg

Smithfield – Jesse L. Malmberg, age 80 passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Jesse was born in Cache Junction, Utah to Jesse L. and Lula Malmberg on July 1, 1933. He grew up in Cache Junction and graduated from North Cache High School. Jesse married Ruth Balls from Hyde Park in September of 1954. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. Shortly after their marriage he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in the Military Police. After he was discharged from the military, he moved his family back to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he owned and operated the Blue Bell Gas Company. During this time he attended night school at Glen E. Clark Accounting College where he graduated with honors. Jesse has served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as a stake missionary and in the stake mission presidency in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He and his family moved to Logan in 1974 where he worked for the City of Logan in the Water Department as assistant manager. In the Logan South Stake, Jess enjoyed his calling on the high council. In 1998 Jess and Ruth retired to Smithfield. They were called to serve in the Bishop's store House in Logan, which they did faithfully for five years and loved every minute of it. Jess liked to spend time with his family at their cabin in Island Park. Jess is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ruth, and their three sons and one daughter; Lee Sue Malmberg, Idaho Falls, Lynn Jan Malmberg North Logan, Kim Bruce Nate, Preston, and Bruce Pam Malmberg, College Ward. They have 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Noon Monday, December 16, 2013, at the Smithfield 15 ward church house 625 East 600 South, Smithfield, Utah A viewing will be from 6-8 Sunday night December 15, at the Nelson Funeral Home at 85 South Main Smithfield, Utah. There will also be a viewing at the church on Monday prior to services from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Clarkston Cemetery.
