Joan Merrill Carlson Baugh

Joan C. Baugh of Concord, CA passed away peacefully at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Logan, Utah to Carl H. and Oretta M. Carlson, her early years were spent in Preston, ID. She later moved to Logan, Ut. at age 15 and attended Logan Junior High, Logan High School and Utah State University. Joan met and married her high school sweetheart Clyde F. Baugh in 1954; they spent 59 years together devoted to each other and their family. They moved to CA after Clyde finished his service in the Army, and Joan was able to finish her education at University of San Francisco in business administration. Joan went on to work for the Contra Costa County Schools as Assistant Director of Personnel as well as the Mt. Diablo Unified School District for over 25 years. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as well as the Concord Jayceettes, Chi Omega Sorority, and the American Association of University Women. Joan enjoyed ceramics, knitting, reading and many other hobbies. Joan's work ethic was an example to all, she blessed the lives of many through her small and simple acts of love. She loved her family, serving them with love and devotion. Industrious, strong willed and energetic she taught her children and grandchildren the value of working hard, serving others, and the importance of getting an education. Her optimistic attitude brightened the lives of many others up until her passing. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, sister Evelyn Kest, and brothers Richard M. and David M. Carlson. She is survived by her beloved husband, Clyde F. Baugh. She leaves behind her devoted children and spouses, Shellie Ron Jensen and Ric Janet Baugh. She will always be remembered by her grandchildren, Jared Lacie Jensen, Denise, Mitch, Kristen, Trent Baugh and great granddaughters Saylor and Willow Jensen.
