Joyce attended the Ellis School & Logan High. In Joyce's childhood she enjoyed playing sports of all kinds. As an adult she enjoyed golfing and skiing with her son and friends.
After Joyce graduated from Logan High, she studied nursing and became an RN. In March 1951 she joined the Army Nurse Corps and did her training at Fort San Houston in Texas. When the Korean War started she volunteered for duty and served in the 11th Evacuation Hospital in Wonju, Korea.
After serving her tour of duty, she returned to Utah and served in the reserves for 3 years obtaining the rank of Captain. She worked for 27 years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. There she met her husband Harold Hyrum Winger. They were married Oct. 15, 1958 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple. Two years after their marriage, in December, they welcomed their only child, Harold Q. into their family. They enjoyed many happy years together as a family and especially enjoyed going on camping trips together.

Joyce is survived by her son, Harold Q. Winger. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her sister, Emma, and her brother, Jack. The family expresses their deep gratitude to the outstanding staff at Sunshine Terrace, for their love, support, and wonderful care.
Joyce, we will miss your smile, your caring, and loving nature. We never stopped learning from you. Thanks for everything.
