Larry Kennt Nelson

December 29, 1948 - August 9, 2016

Larry Kennt Nelson frequently stated that he planned to never retire. True to his word, he continued working until an aggressive brain tumor made that impossible. Larry was born in Brigham City, UT, to Kenneth B. and Joan Nelson. He was raised on a dairy farm in Corinne, UT, with surviving siblings Craig, Shauna (Steinmetz), and Jolene (Brasher). Larry graduated from Box Elder High School and then served in the Netherlands Mission. Upon returning, he attended Utah State University, where he met and married Ellen Geary in the Logan LDS Temple. Following graduation, Larry worked professionally as an accountant, which included transfers from Utah to Connecticut to California and back to Utah. Larry was a High Priest in the LDS Church, serving in various callings throughout his life. But his greatest joy was his family. Larry leaves behind his loving wife, Ellen; children Greg (Cassie) Nelson, Rob (Christie) Nelson, Suzette (Benji) McMurray, Steve (Brandy) Nelson, and Nicolle (Brad) Arrington; and nine grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 12, from 6-8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home in Smithfield (85 S. Main St). The funeral will be Saturday, August 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church at 79 E 200 South, Smithfield, with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com
