Loa Ida Cook Lamborn

Loa Ida Cook Lamborn, having lived 90 great years, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 19, 2009 at the Bear River Care Center in Tremonton, Utah. On March 11, 1919 Loa was welcomed by her parents Julia Alnora Dustin and Joseph Nelson Cook and two brothers Joseph Vernon and David Drew in Garden City, Utah. Later, Oris Kaa and Lew Deland completed Loa�s family. Her childhood was spent cooking for hay men, herding the milk cows, riding horses and swimming in Bear Lake. She attended elementary school in Garden City and graduated from High School at North Rich in Laketown, Utah. Following high school, she furthered her education at Utah State Agricultural College. Loa married Grant W. Lamborn of Laketown on June 7, 1939 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Loa was an industrious, thrifty, hard-worker. Her homemaking skills were second to none. She loved to cook, sew, crochet, and quilt she made a quilt for every grandchild as well as many others. She was a devoted member of the LDS church, servings as the Relief Society Secretary for more than 20 years and also served as Relief Society President, in addition to many other church callings. She dedicated a quarter century of service as a Temple Officiator in the Logan LDS Temple. She never missed an opportunity to play cards, games, boating and picnicking with the children and grandchildren. She was a good sport and in the center of all the family fun. Loa is survived by 3 daughters and one son: ReNee Mckinnon Brent of Tremonton, Utah; Linda Willis Jim of Laketown, Utah; Marilyn Asay Larry of Laketown, Utah and David G. Lamborn Sally of Laketown, Utah; 14 Grandchildren , 20 Great Grandchildren and 2 brothers: Oris Kaa Cook Beatrice-deceased of Cokeville, Wyoming; Lew Deland Mildred of Logan, Utah; 3 brothers-in-law: Paul W. Lamborn Maureen of Rio Vista, California; Ellis W. Lamborn Ruth of Boise, Idaho; Howard J. Lamborn LaRue-deceased of Laketown, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julia Alnora Dustin, Joseph Nelson Cook; her husband of 67 years, Grant W. Lamborn; brothers: Joseph Vernon Bernice-deceased; David Drew Viola-deceased and 5 infant siblings; Great Grandson, Michael Riley Anderson; sister-in-law, LaRuth Lamborn; and nephew, William John Lamborn. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of the Bear River Care Center in Tremonton, Utah. Funeral services will be held at the Laketown Ward Chapel, 115 South 100 East, Laketown, Utah at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 25, 2009. Friends and family may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 24 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah and from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning at the church prior to services.
