Margaret Delilah Moore Hebdon

August 19, 1922 — May 11, 2012

Margaret Delilah Moore Hebdon passed away on May 11, 2012 at her home in Smithfield, Utah at the age of 89. She was born to Louis Rolland Moore and Christine Hatch Moore in Hatch, Idaho on August 19, 1922. She was their youngest child and only girl. She attended elementary school in Hatch and then went to Bancroft to attend High School at North Gem High graduating in 1940. After High School she moved to Denver, Colorado to attend a secretarial school. She then went to Pocatello, Idaho to a vocational school and worked on planes at the Base in Pocatello when WW II started. In 1942 she joined the WAC and served during the war in San Bernardino, California. After the war she moved back to Hatch where she met Rex Edward Hebdon at a church dance. They were married on January 7, 1947 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple. They bought a small farm in Kelly Toponce, now known as Chesterfield about 10 miles from her childhood home. There was a small 4 room house they lived in when their first two children, Christina and Ruth, were born. When Rex was called on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints she moved back with her two daughters to her parents house in Hatch until he returned. They moved back to their farm where there was a new home built and three more children were born, Janet, William W. Bill, and Roy E. In 1972 the family moved to Smithfield, Utah and she has lived on the same corner in Smithfield ever since. She was a wonderful cook, loved the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and crocheting beautiful things and quilting beautiful quilts. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved spouse Rex, two of her daughters, Christina May White Barry and Janet Cleverley Larnell a grandson, Jay Edward Raleigh, and all three of her brothers and their spouses, Raymond Gertrude, Thomas Jean and Byron Lucy. Survivors are Barry D. White Mona, Ruth Oshiro James, Larnell Cleverley Tana, William W. Bill Hebdon, Roy E. Hebdon Elaine. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren with 4 more due before the end of the year and two great-great-grandchildren. Along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. There will be a viewing at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main, Smithfield, Utah from 6-8 PM on Thursday, May 17. There will also be a viewing prior to the service at the 22nd Ward Chapel, 640 N. 200 E. Smithfield, Utah from 10:30-11:30 AM. Services will begin at 12 noon. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery immediately following the service. We would like to thank the CNS staff for the loving care they have given to Mom over the last several years with a special thanks going out to her head nurse Natasha and her nurses aide Christine for the love they showed to her and the care they so gently gave.
