Paul Howard Sharp

September 29, 1922 - July 14, 2017

Paul Sharp died July 14 after a long life, well-lived. He loved his family. Together with Daphne, his wife of 74 years, he raised eight children. His children did not always follow his counsel, but they all loved and admired him. He loved his own country, but considered people in all countries to be equally God’s children. Born in Parowan, Utah, he started his 28 years of military service during WW II in a B-17. He was stationed all over the world (including Guam, the Philippines, Turkey, and Germany) making life-long friends in every place. He received nearly every military decoration possible – inspiring his men rather than simply commanding them. He loved working with his hands. After retiring to Logan, he turned renovating old homes into chances to work with his children and grandchildren and to teach them skills they have since used in their own homes. He loved working with others in any capacity. He viewed each of his many callings in the LDS church as an opportunity to develop and ennoble others. He loved to see new places. He and Daphne transported their children (sometimes reluctant at the time, now grateful) to historical and cultural sites in nearly every state and dozens of countries. After retiring, they served a mission in Jordan and continued to tour on every continent. He is survived by his wife, his eight children, 25 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Logan 4th Ward chapel on Thursday at 11:00, following a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com.
