Perry Paul Wickham and LaRetha Ruth Croff Wickham NEWTON ï?¾ Perry Paul Wickham, 68, and his wife, LaRetha Ruth Croff Wickham, 66, of Newton, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Mountain Home, Idaho.
Paul was born April 12, 1942, in Logan, Utah, and was raised in Logan and Smithfield. He graduated from North Cache High School in1960 and was active in FFA. He married LaRetha Ruth Croff on Sept. 24, 1965, in the Logan LDS Temple, and they are the parents of four children. They resided in Logan, then moved to Newton in 1981. Paul was a long-time employee of Logan Manufacturing, and he retired three years ago from the facilities department at Utah State University where he worked for nine years. He was an excellent mechanic and welder. He was also a volunteer firefighter. He is survived by a brother, Reid A. Wickham, and was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Jones Wickham and Anna Nyman Wickham.
LaRetha was born Dec. 28, 1944, in Sacramento, Calif., and graduated from Logan High School in 1962. She attended Hollywood Beauty College and practiced cosmetology in Logan and Sacramento. She was very talented with her hands and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, doing hair, making candy, baking, and she especially loved gardening.
She is survived by siblings David L. Croff, Laurel Ogden, Jill Mills, Steve Croff and Diane Gillmore and
stepmother Betty Croff. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Louis Croff and Ruth Vivian Leitzell Croff May and a sister Carma Joy Croff.
LaRetha and Perry were active members of the LDS Church, and they loved their community and neighbors. Many were the recipients of their kind service, including snow removal and warm bread.
They are survived by their children: Daphne Carlson Mike of Mendon; Kim Parkinson Kevin of Newton; Raymond Julie of Newton; and Stephen Tamara of Cove. They are also survived by11 grandchildren and many adopted family members. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Newton 2nd Ward Chapel. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan and Friday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Newton Cemetery. The family greatly appreciates all the expressions of love and concern and would like to thank law enforcement and emergency personnel for their assistance and all the caring hands that helped their parents at this time.
