Raymond Ford Watkins

Raymond Ford Watkins returned home to his loving Heavenly Father with his children and family by his side on March 25, 2012. Raymond passed away after a long fight with Parkinson's disease. Raymond Ford Watkins was the son of Charles Russel Watkins and Ruth Ford Watkins. Raymond had one brother, Phil Watkins. Raymond attended school at the University of Utah and later attended Weber State University. While attending Weber State University he met and married Merry Tobler on August 19, 1970 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They raised four children in Brigham City, Utah and were later divorced. Raymond worked at Morton Thiokol in Promontory, Utah as an Engineer and worked on various projects including developing and planning such things as the MS Nozzle. Raymond took after his father who was a railroad engineer and enjoyed taking his family to see various locomotives. He also enjoyed building model trains. Raymond also enjoyed fishing, scouting, playing board and card games, art oils and watercolors, swimming, collecting rocks, and was very good at working with his hands especially wood working. Raymond was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was devoted to serving in all his callings. Raymond is survived by his children Carl Doriene of Plain City, Jay Shaleen of Saratoga Springs, Karen of Nibley, and Ben Desta of Nibley along with 13 grandchildren and his brother Phil Kathryn Watkins of Salt Lake City. He will be remembered as one who is thoughtful, brave, kind to others, enduring, strong, patient and loves the Lord and his family. Memorial Services will be held Thursday March 29, 2012 at the LDS 4th Ward Chapel located at 25 North 300 East in Brigham City, Utah. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Following the funeral services Raymond Ford Watkins will be laid to rest at the Centerville, Utah Cemetery.
