Renee Bird Crockett
December 7, 1928 – September 18, 2018

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother Renee Bird Crockett, 89, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2018 at the Legacy House in Logan, Utah. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Renee was born at the family home on December 7, 1928 in Mendon, Utah to Pearl and Afton Bird. She was the third of seven children. She had four sisters and two brothers. Renee loved her family and had many stories to tell. Her father worked on the railroad and her mother was the postmaster. Her parents gave the children chores and one of Renee’s chores was to take and bring the cows to pasture. She would ride the train to school and to Logan. She would go shopping with her friends. In 1943 she was the May Day queen in Mendon. Renee loved watching baseball and played softball in high school. She graduated from South Cache High School on May 25, 1947.
She met the love of her life at a dance in Mendon when they were in high school. In 1947 they went to a New Year Eve dance in Smithfield. All the couples they were friends with were married. They dared Dee and Renee to get married. So they left after the dance and drove to Elko Nevada in a horrible snow storm and were married on January 2, 1948. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple on May 31, 1957. They also had their 3 children Carolyn, Randy and Cathy sealed to them. She loved her family and loved spending time with them. She was always there to help with her family whenever needed, including babysitting.
She loved the church. She held callings for the Young Women, Primary and in the Relief Society. She loved sewing and doing crafts.
Renee and Dee like to travel and went to the Rose bowl parade, Lake Tahoe, Reno and Las Vegas. They went to Hawaii for their 25th anniversary with their daughter Cathy. They loved camping and spent many weekends at Twin Lakes with several of their Smithfield neighbors and friends. They had a boat and the family spent many hours water skiing.
She worked at Utah State University for a time. She also worked for JC Penney for 11 years and Summit School for 5 years.
She is survived by her husband Dee Crockett, her children Carolyn Renee Lee, Randy (Suzanne) Crockett, Cathy (Neil) Anderson. She is also survived by her brother Dale (Bertha) Bird, sister Deon Carroll, brother Karl (Angie) Bird, sister Linda (Travis) Johnson. She has 10 grandchildren as well as 19 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her mother, father, sister Darlene Richins, and sister Laure Lee Leatham.
A viewing will be held Saturday, September 22 at the Smithfield 11th ward at 79 East 200 South, Smithfield at 11:00 to 12:30. Graveside service will follow at the Smithfield Cemetery at 1:00.
We wish to thank Legacy House, Williamsburg and Signature Hospice for the love and care shown to our Mother.
We will miss you mom and g-ma….
