Roma Johnson Perry

April 15, 1920 — August 21, 2011

Roma Johnson Perry, our loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2011 in Logan, Utah. Roma was born April 15, 1920 to Howard and Selma Johnson in Preston, Idaho. She was the oldest of four children and graduated from Preston High School. While attending Utah State University, she met Clarence C. Perry and they were married October 1, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived for 30 years on the family dairy farm in Deweyville, Utah, where they raised five children.
Roma was always active and involved in Relief Society and Primary on both the ward and stake level. Roma was very talented and was well known for her hand work. She crocheted, knitted, embroidered, and sewed, even making her own patterns. She was always reaching out to help someone in need.
In 1972, Roma and Clarence moved to Logan, Utah. After retirement they worked together in the Logan temple as supervisors of the baptistry and were also officiators at both the Logan and Ogden temples.
Roma loved to cook for her family. Her home was always the central gathering place for family. Her grandchildren loved to visit Grandma and she would always spend quality time with them. She had a great sense of humor which her family all loved.
Roma is survived by four of her five children, Alan Sue Perry, Logan; Kent Ann Perry, Georgetown, Texas; Karl Marjorie Perry, Logan; and Eileen Campbell, Logan; and her sister, Shirley Johnson Duke, Bountiful. She has 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren with two more coming in the near future. Roma was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her daughter, Kathryn Meeker; son-in-law, Ronald Meeker; grandchildren April, Douglas, and Brian Meeker; her parents; and two brothers, Howard K. Johnson and Mark Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, 2011, at the Lundstrom Park 2nd Ward, 1260 N. 1600 E., Logan, Utah, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at Nelson Funeral home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah, on Thursday, August 25, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church prior to the funeral service. Interment will be held at the Logan Cemetery.
The family would like to express appreciation to Alpine Hospice and the wonderful caregivers at Sunshine Terrace Memory Lane.
