Ruby Hamilton McArthur

August 30, 1918 — October 2, 2010

Ruby McArthur was born on Aug. 30, 1918, in Rigby, Idaho. She was the daughter of Moroni and Lillie Hamilton. She died a few days after her 92nd birthday.
Her husband, Wayne, preceded her in death by a couple of months. He was 96. Now they are together once more. They were sweethearts to the end. They showed their love with hugs and kisses many times a day.
Every time Lawrence Welk came on TV, they would prop each other up and dance around the kitchen table.
They were married on May 6, 1935, on Wayne's birthday. On May 5, they drove from Wilford, Idaho, to Logan, Utah, to get a marriage license. Ruby was only 16, so they wouldn't give them a license. The next day they drove to Brigham City. She had aged two years and they were married.
She had only one son, J'Wayne and couldn't have more. They named him after his dad, John Wayne. It was too bad she didn't have more children because she loved kids.
Ruby enjoyed going camping and fishing with Wayne. They had a cabin on Island Park where they spent many enjoyable summers.
After Wayne retired they spent their winters in Quartzsite, Ariz., where she was active in the LDS Church some more. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Ruby is survived by her son, four grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. She has a brother, Dean Hamilton and two sisters, Fern Yriondo and Montees Millward, are still living.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, in the Smithfield LDS Ward Chapel, 345 East 300 South in Smithfield. A viewing will be held at the Nelson Funeral home in Smithfield on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
