Ruth Poppleton Williamson Griffin

Ruth Poppleton Williamson Griffin passed away peacefully February 11, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Kaysville. Born May 13, 1911 in Wellsville, the 5th child of 8 born to William Maughan and Mary Riggs Poppleton Williamson, she has now joined them: Floyd, Vernon, Elmer, Edith, Celia, Ethel, and Aileen. She attended school in Wellsville, Smithfield and North Cache; married Harold Jenkins Griffin July 11, 1928 in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Newton 56 years before Harold passed away on July 18, 1984. She moved to Logan where she lived for 25 years. Ruth service faithfully as Relief Society secretary, Primary and Young Women's leader, magazine rep and secretary to the Newton Ward and Smithfield stake genealogical Committee and loved temple attendance and assisting Harold and daughter Beve with family genealogy research. She worked 4 years in the remedial reading program at North Cache Jr. High, served as a 4-H leader and Committee Chair for North Cache Mental Health. Ruth was an avid reader and loved playing games. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and working with plastic canvas, all of which she loved to share with family and friends. She is survived by 6 children: H. Jay Janice Griffin, Sun City West, Az; Beverly Kidman Neil Donohoo, Tremonton; NaDene Deloy, deceased Archibald, Kaysville; Margaret Hansen James Wilkinson, West Point; Kent Patricia Griffin, Kaysville; Faye Troy Brown, Westminster, Co; sister-in-law Ruth G. Porter, South Ogden; 27 grandchildren 78 great grandchildren and 30 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and siblings, a granddaughter, Jessica Brown; grandsons Eric Hansen, Scott Griffin; and great grandson, Arthur Tracy Kidman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. Friends and family may call Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Wellsville City Cemetery.
