Sadie Kathryn Miller Hunsaker

November 12, 1915 — April 20, 2010

Brigham City, UT - Sadie Kathryn Miller Hunsaker passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Sadie was born in Bear River City, UT, November 12, 1915, the 3rd of 11 children born to Ole Sylvanus and Jensine Nielsen Miller. Sadie grew up in Bear River City and attended school there. She loved to go to school and always valued education. Being the oldest daughter, Sadie was a big help to her mother in caring for the other children. She continued being a caregiver all of her life and loved to have family come home for a visit. Family members looked forward to coming to Grandma?s house because they were always served a delicious home-cooked meal.
Sadie married Paul Rolph Hunsaker June 23, 1936, in Malad, Idaho. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple December 11, 1940. Sadie was an accomplished seamstress and used her skills sewing at the Sports Wear plant in Brigham City. She later worked at the Defense Depot in Ogden. After several years at DDO, she then came home and began working as a cook at Box Elder Junior High School.
In her spare time, Sadie crocheted beautiful doilies, afghans, and made hand-stitched quilts for her children and grandchildren. She has left a legacy of love for her friends and family.
Sadie served as a visiting teacher in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 65 years. She also served in the Relief Society presidency, the MIA presidency, and as a teacher in all of the organizations. The calling that she enjoyed the most was serving as an officiator in the Ogden Temple for 13 years.
Sadie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, two sisters, daughter, Patsy Kay Johnson, and son-in-law, Ronald L. Johnson. Surviving are her children: Paul D. Barbara, Orem, UT; Lynda Jack Weaver, Bouse, AZ; Michael Marilyn, Brigham City, UT; and Kathy Paul Buck, Brigham City, UT; 22 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers: Violet Anderson, Logan, UT; Artell Brailsford, Bear River City, UT; Lyle Norma Miller, Prump, NV; and Joyce Miller, Ogden, UT.
Sadie was a gracious lady. Even when she was in pain, she was sweet and grateful to all who came to visit or to help her. The family wishes to thank the nurses, CNAs, and staff of Love Hospice for their help during a difficult time in Sadie?s life. We would also like thank Nellie Jenkins, Senior to Senior Companion, who freely gave of her time to help keep Mom?s memory keen.
