Sarah Wilda Cooke Howell

June 19, 1917 — May 5, 2009

Willard, UT – Sarah Wilda Cooke Howell, 91, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the home of her daughter. She was born June 19, 1917 to George Sanford and Sarah R. Mecham Cooke in Tremonton, Utah. She married Ralph J. Howell April 11, 1936 in Brigham City. Their marriage was solemnized March 7, 1940 in the Logan LDS Temple. Ralph died April 4, 1985.
Sarah lived in Tremonton until her marriage when they moved to Portage. She served as Portage town clerk. She was a seamstress working for American Sportswear in Brigham City. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and making doll clothes.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Primary counselor, Mia Maid teacher and secretary and a Visiting Teacher.
Surviving is her daughter, Deann Don B. Forsgren of Willard; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and seven sisters.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009 12:00 noon at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton with Bishop Phil Gertge officiating. Family and friends may call Friday, May 8, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00-11:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Portage Cemetery.
