Terry Leavitt

January 19, 1947 — August 25, 2016

Terry Leavitt, age 69, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016. He was born to Floyd and Jean Leavitt in Afton, Wyoming. He grew up in Afton and graduated from Star Valley High School.
As a teenager, he met the love of his life, Linda Rowland, and they were married in 1966. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They made their first home in Logan, Utah while Terry attended Utah State University. He later graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering.
This degree took them to Oxnard, California where Terry worked for the naval base, Port Hueneme, on surface to air missile systems. They were fortunate to return home to Utah when he acquired a job at Hill Air Force Base and finish raising their family. After living in North Ogden, Utah for a few years, they moved to Cache Valley and built a home in Mendon, Utah. Due to health reasons, he was forced to move closer to work and made Weber County their final home. He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 2004.
Terry was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved the gospel and was a great example of service. Terry and Linda were sealed for eternity with their children in the Los Angeles California Temple in 1974.
Terry loved family history and wrote the books “Life’s Journey” and “Ancestry of Terry and Linda Rowland Leavitt”. These were published for family members in March 2011 and October 2015. Family was important to this loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He wanted all of his descendents to personally know of their heritage.
Terry loved the outdoors and spent time camping, hunting and fishing with his family. He prioritized time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His family was his greatest accomplishment and joy.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda; children Mindy (Wendell) Whiteley , Mark (Shelly) Leavitt, Kerry (Dean) Harris, Kori (Braydy) Nelson, Wade (Amy) Leavitt and Aaron (Tanya) Leavitt; brothers Larry (Sandy) Leavitt, Ronald (Mary) Leavitt, and sister Connie (Mike) Gittins; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws Charlotte (Gary)Thomas, Ronald (Ramona) Rowland, Brian (Julia) Rowland, Marian (Albert) VanDyke; 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Jean Leavitt; parents-in-law Arthur and Dorothy L. Rowland.
