Venna Petersen Hunsaker

May 30, 1918 — April 6, 2010

Venna Hunsaker, a woman of service, compassion, and faith, passed away Tuesday night, April 6, just one month before her 92nd birthday. A valiant daughter of Heavenly Father, Venna?s sweet spirit was a gift to all who knew her. She focused on the important things in life -- service to all those around her, being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and fulfilling these roles with love and her strong example.
Venna was born May 30, 1918 in Elwood, Utah to Joseph and Janusine Petersen. She married her high school sweetheart Russell Hunsaker and settled in Honeyville in 1936. Venna worked alongside her husband milking cows and running a dairy farm, enjoying their deer hunting adventures, and perfecting her cinnamon roll recipe. Russell and Venna had 6 children. Venna worked in the school lunch program and held numerous callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including Relief Society President and temple worker.
Venna?s strength and ability to deal with the trials and challenges in her life with a positive attitude and determination to serve and give to other are a legacy to those who knew and loved her. She experienced the loss of her husband early in their lives together, as well as 3 children passing away. We know she is rejoicing in reuniting with those dear to her that she has missed for many years. She spent her earthly energy loving her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and adopted grandchildren. She had a beautiful, genuine spirit, was a hard working woman, and comforted others by serving.
She is predeceased by her husband, Russell Hunsaker, her daughter, Leah Sherwood Haigler, and twin sons, Dallas and Dennis. She is survived by three daughters: LaNae LaMar Hiatt, Jan Ron Gardner and Valerie David Tisler; 17 grandchildren: Chris Hogue, Holly Steve Johnson, Dustin Yolanda Hiatt, Ben Heather Hiatt, Adam Hiatt, Randy Hiatt, Megan Chris Crecelius, Amanda Szeto, Melanie Tisler, Chad Tisler, Scott Tisler, Cami Tisler, Ron Wendi Gardner, Scott Angela Gardner, Jeff Gardner, Danny Leigh Gardner and Matt Gardner and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, April 12, at the Honeyville LDS chapel. Friends may call on Sunday, April 11, at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, from 5 to7 p.m. and prior to the service Monday from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m.
